Misdiagnosis of Sleep Apnea

People at the first place do not have any knowledge regarding the sleep disorder, which is popular as Sleep Apnea. This is not a well-known disease but notable amounts of people are unknowingly suffering from the disorder. Sleep Apnea is a potentially a dangerous sleeping aliment that is very tough to catch hold of when the person is sleeping alone. The problem in the disorder is troubles due to lack of breath.
This ailment is common in the snorers. Lack of breath directly affects the oxygen supply to the body and this is because sleep apnea causes blood oxygen in purification which can go up to three to four percentage or even above that. Though the percentage may not sound as high on paper, it is enough to create adverse side effects to the entire body and its functioning. Prolonging of this situation develops grave conditions and serious affects the health of the person.
In recent past, the searches regarding sleep apnea have increased on the Internet where there are many useful websites giving information about the symptoms relating to the sleeping disorder. The symptoms range from mild headaches to the serious ones such as constant mood swings and depressions. In most of the cases, these signs are misdiagnosed as a mental imbalance problem. As a result, the treatment given to the person will only be affective to relieve the side effects and it leaves the actual crisis unaddressed. The ignorance of this sleeping disorder may cause major aliments and grave circumstances such as heart diseases such as colossal heart attack that may even lead to the dead of the person.
The Sleep Apnea is a part of the wider study known as “Sleep Disordered Breathing” also popular as “SDB”. The condition of the sleeping aliment is further categorized into three main sections, which are discussed below:
The first type is the (OSA) Obstruction Sleep Apnea: in this, the soft tissue of the upper airway collapse at the night and declines the air intake and after a while, the intake is completely stopped. During the reduction of air intake, the amount of oxygen provided for the breathing process is insufficient. Thus, the brain sends instant signals that result in the person waking up. In case of excess OSA, effective medicine either reduces the Apneic events or helps in the process of eliminating them once for all.
Central Sleep Apnea (CSA) is same as to the OSA and appears as an advance stage of the similar effects. However, the system of oxygen reduction is different. Here the brain is unable to send the important signal to the muscles that control the breathing process. However, this type of Sleep Apnea is rare as compared to the OSA.
Mixed Sleep Apnea or Complex Apnea: according to the National Institutes of Health, this type of Sleep Apnea is the combination of both the OSA and CSA types. In this, the effects are more severe as the gap between the breadth laps is more than ten seconds, which makes the attack more complicated and serious.
However, the three types of sleep apnea discussed above are curable from the use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure also popular as the CPAP therapy. It is important that the aliment be rectified well in advance without any misleading treatment.
